Hi, friends! Happy last Monday of 2019 to you! I am sure you’re feeling the same way but O M G – where did the year go? I feel like we were literally just brining in the new year and setting 2019 goals. This year has been extremely satisfying as I completed a few big things: moved away from my college town, paid off 1 credit card, stared paying student loans & spent more time in my faith.
For fun, I’ll be ringing in the new year at a friends Roaring 20s Mystery party. Full transparency: I have never done anything like this before. However, I am SO excited to bring in the new year in a really cool way surrounded by fun people. This weekend, I celebrated one of my best friends from college getting married at the beach and found this perfect winter wedding dress to wear via Rent The Runway! However, in true North Carolina non-predictable weather fashion, it was 72 degrees the day of the wedding. *insert major eye roll* Walking from the parking lot to the wedding was a little brutal since the dress material is thicker and meant to keep you warm. But after the wedding was over and the sun went down, I was happy to be wearing something a little thicker since the temperature dropped quickly.
The true color of this dress is a deep navy blue with brighter blue lace details and black flutter sleeves and trimming. For a winter evening wedding, the color mix is perfect and more fun than simply wearing all black. Like so many of my other favorite wedding looks, black two-straps sandals were my shoe of choice for dancing all night long. I recently picked up this black mini satchel so I wouldn’t have to bring my huge LV Neverfull + so I had enough room for snacks and water and facial spray. Since the wedding was a 2 hour drive away, I packed a few light snacks and water, which was my best decision of the night. I somehow forgot that I hadn’t eaten since 8:30am and was starving midway through my drive at 3pm…dinner was at 6pm. Pro tip: Always bring a snack.
Luckily, the wedding ceremony was short and followed immediately by happy hour with light bites. Dinner was shortly after we made our way back to the main space so I was LUCKY that I didn’t need the snacks to hold me over. During my last wedding in the late winter, the ceremony was about 1.5 hours and happy hour didn’t include light bites – I starved & learned my lesson the hard way.
Because I got this dress as part of my Rent The Runway unlimited membership, I only paid for the actual membership and not the cost of the dress which is $500 at full-price and $300 on the best sale I could find. I have few other upcoming blog posts with more RTR Unlimited items (not sponsored, but HIT YA GIRL UP RTR) to give you guys the full scoop before you make the commitment. The unlimited plan is $159 for 4 styles at a time which you can usually get for $60-$80 during your first 2 months through various blogger codes. (I used CHEW50 from Alicia Tenise for $200 off my first 60 days which decreased the price to $63 with tax/month- SCORE).
So friends, that’s all that I have for today! In case you missed it, I rounded up my recent Q4 beauty favs last week and have a few more Q4 breakdown posts (books, eye products & foundations) coming over the next few weeks. I just love that dress and it looks great on you. It’s hard to find long sleeve dresses. I have been to three December weddings the last three years!

It totally is so hard finding long sleeves that you actually want to wear to a wedding!
