Summer Ready With Waxing The City

Hey friends hey! Happy Monday and beginning of the holiday week to ya! I was a little quiet in the blogging world last week but I am so excited to have the week off from teaching and a bunch of time to get back on track! A few weeks ago, I shared a little about my experience getting an eyebrow shaping at Waxing The City in Chapel Hill, but today I’m dropping all the deets. Since my brows are my favorite part about my face and one of the only routine beauty services I get, I was so excited to try out Waxing The City during my day trip to CH. Y’all, this was the best eyebrow waxing experience I have ever had (no, seriously) and I have to shout out my Cerologist + eyebrow expert, Bess.

For starters, stepping into the studio alone was refreshing and calming. While we waited for my appointment, we were given a tour around the studio including seeing each wax rooms, Waxing The City product displays and more. Before starting the wax, Bess assessed my current eyebrow shape and asked for my feedback on what I was looking for as far as height, shape, length and arch style. I had never been asked these questions before getting an eyebrow wax but Bess was so attentive and helped point me in the direction that best fit my face. I prefer a clean and simple eyebrow refresh with very little additional shaping- basically, all natural. After cleansing and cleaning my brows, a light numbing cream was applied to reduce the amount of pain I would feel. I never thought I would need a numbing cream but because each Cerologist spends a good amount of time waxing, trimming and tweezing, the cream is essential. As Bess was getting my eyebrows summer vacation ready, she educated us on how Waxing The City started just in the early 2000s and now has 100+ studios across the US!  She also mentioned that one of the best parts about becoming a Cerologist is that new employees get to travel to Denver, Waxing The City HQ, to learn all about the company, where it started, how to be the best at your job and more. The overall training and onboarding process was such a thrill to hear about solely because I don’t know of many businesses that send new employees to their HQ for such unique training.

After getting my eyebrows fresh and vacation ready, Bess cleansed my brows then applied a post-waxing treatment to reduce any possible bumps/breakouts. One of the last steps in the waxing process is the use of a blue light touch treatment to reduce bacteria and dirt from the freshly opened skin, in efforts to avoid later irritations. Altogether, I was and am completely obsessed with my eyebrows shaping and the overall process of visiting my Waxing The City studio in Chapel Hill. A good brow shaping did more than just groom a few stray hairs and fix minor things—it totally brightened up my whole face.  It’s currently a little over three weeks post wax and my brows still look amazing. Before I left, I had to snag two of the products Bess used on me: eyebrow gel and eyebrow brush plus therapeutic cleansing pads for overall good skincare. Each studio offers a full line of brow products to enhance your existing brows including brow powders, highlighter, gel and shaping tools.

  14. Your brows are on fleek! I’ve never waxed any part of my body before (fun fact, I’ve never had hair removal issues because I just don’t grow enough body hair or excess facial hair)
