Hey friends, hey! Happy Thursday to ya! As I’m sure you’ve noticed, it’s somehow 2019 and the first week is half way over. I’m so excited for all the good I know this year will bring and am starting off the year with a blog post about one of my favorite adventures in 2018: traveling to Boston with two blogger babes. Last year, two of my goals were to travel more and meet more bloggers. Though there are hundreds upon hundreds of bloggers out there, it is still hard sometimes to find your “tribe” that you like to talk with, support, collab with and even travel with. At the end of October (I know y’all, I know) I got the opportunity to travel to Boston with Josie & Amber, two fellow affordable fashion bloggers. Josie is a recent DC transplant and Amber has lived in Boston for several years. If you were following along a few months ago, you may remember me talking about each of them in this leopard print styling post that I did with them & our friend Tomi.
Josie & I landed in Boston at almost the same exact time and headed over to Amber’s house. We explored the downtown area of Allston, a community within Boston where Amber lives, for lunch then a coffee break at Caffè Nero. When I go back to Boston, this coffee shop is at the top of my list! It is the perfect little spot for grabbing a quick bite, getting some work done and relax indoors or outdoors.
Later that afternoon, we had a shoot scheduled with Behind The Click, before our Styling event at LOFT. We stopped at a few special places in Boston: Boston Public Park & Acorn Street (The only cobblestone street left in Boston)! My biggest dream was to visit Acorn Street since it’s such a historic place, but y’all, the amount of foot traffic in that area is insane. We were there on a Friday afternoon and there were multiple tours happening at once. I would absolutely suggest going during a weekday to avoid the masses and get the pictures you want. Regardless, the street was so beautiful and is such a precious of history in the middle of the city.
A weird Lyft ride later (ICYMI, weed is legal in Boston and I’m 99% positive our driver had a nice “session” before our ride, if ya catch my drift), we headed to our Style Social at LOFT. It wouldn’t be a real trip if I didn’t do something embarrassing like leave one of Josie’s BRAND NEW gloves in the Lyft. Let’s just blame that on the contact high. This was the first time each of us had held an event at LOFT and I would do it again in a heartbeat. The team was so friendly and we had such a fun time helping ladies come in and get styled in time for fall/holidays. Unfortunately, I didn’t get any picture of this event but if you were follow along on Instagram stories, you caught our dance party at the front of the story, try-on sessions and consumption of 23 brownies in 3 hours. That night, we grabbed dinner a a local wing spot then headed home to get some much needed rest. I almost forgot to mention that the night before our flight (Josie & I had to be at our airports by 5:30), we stayed up on FaceTime planning, packing and chatting. I have no idea how we made it through this long day without sleep then stayed up talking this night too. The next day, we took advantage of the gloomy weather by sleeping in before heading to Harvard Square. On our travel trip list was a stop at Tatte Bakery, one of the cutest bakeries in Boston.
After a few too many biscuits and lattes, we headed to my top destination: Harvard! Ever since I binged watched Legally Blonde in elementary and middle school, I’ve always wanted to visit Harvard. We explored a few different parts of campus and spent way too much time in the book store so I could pretend I was Elle Woods for the night!
Before heading back home, we stopped for rolled ice cream and our first Boston train ride. I’ve only been on a train once to NYC through Amtrak, so this was completely different. We did a bit of shopping in the downtown area spent some time getting lost. This was our last night in Boston, so in the spirit of not breaking tradition, we stayed up all night again before heading to the airport. I’m still in shock at home many places we were able to see during our short trip but am so grateful to have had the opportunity to. This was my first time traveling to Boston and now I can’t wait to go back! If you’ve been to Boston, where were your favorite places to go?
Thanks so much for reading, sweet friends! In 2019, my goal is to travel more and take my first international trip (I’m hoping for London during Christmas, fingers crossed) If you’ve been to Boston, I would love to know your favorite spots. Also, if travel is on your wishlist this year, let me know where you’re planning to go! Have a great day! -xo, Azanique <3
