Happy, happy Thursday y’all! How was your week?! I would love to know! 🙂 I’m gearing up for a fun weekend in Raleigh starting with a NC wineries tour tomorrow with a few other local blogger babes. As y’all know, I L O V E wine so this trip is the perfect day away for me and my brand. This weeks ends my three weeks off from teaching and as much as I loved having so much free time, I am ready to get back to teaching! I realized quickly that too much time on my hands is totally not good for me and I need to be occupied/scheduled to a T all day long. Are y’all planner/schedule lovers like myself, or do you prefer to go with the flow?
Okay, so I know it’s not Wednesday, but I am excited to share a #WorkWear post! Even though the seasons are transitioning and the weather will be changing soon, I no doubt have a few classic work pieces that stay in my closet all year long and that I continue to buy throughout the different seasons. One of the best parts of having a few staples is that you can always grab them on clearance during the “off” season for that item and save yourselves some cash. So, let’s get started!
1| Basic white tops – Y’all, I don’t know if any of you follow the “No white after labor day rule” but I sure enough don’t. I almost love winter whites more than summer whites and fully get my fix all year around. White tops are also easily layer-able with cardigans, sweaters, vests and more. I grab a few white tops at the end of summer since that is “off” season and wear them all year long. With this top in particular, it has a soft ruffle detail on the sleeve which I love because: 1. The flirty detail is perfect for summer outfits 2. No one can see the detail when you’re wearing a sweater and it basically looks like a new top. 2-for1!
2| Cardigans – Okay cardi girls, join my cardi party! JK but really y’all, I couldn’t survive without cardigans! Even in the midst of 100 degree weather in NC, I still wear cardigans to work. Most work buildings, malls, restaurants and everywhere else, keep the inside of their buildings cool all year around. For me, this is perfect because even though I may not wear my cardigan in my car to and from work, I can get all year use out of it since the AC at my job is always cranked up high. Plus, I can throw a cardigan around my waist during day trips in case I stop in a restaurant or go to the movies, both places that stay cool no matter the season.
3| Pixie/Skinny leg pants – If you haven’t noticed, I don’t wear boot-cut jeans. To be honest, I haven’t worn any pants besides skinny/pixie pants since middle school! With my height and width of my hips, I’ve never felt comfortable in straight leg pants and always opt for skinny fit. For me, these pants never go out of style! Like mentioned above with cardigans, I can wear pixie style pants in and out of the classroom, when doing events in community and beyond.
4| Two-strap heels – Okay friends, this is probably a no brainer but I love two-strap sandals. Even in the dead of winter, you will catch me wearing these to work, out with friends, on date night and beyond. Plus, they make your legs look longer giving the illusion that you are taller and thinner. Sounds like a win to me!
So friends, what your favorite work pieces to transition throughout seasons? I would love to know, so leave me a comment below! Thanks so much for reading. xo, Azanique <3
