Thank you Middle Sister for sponsoring this post. Bring your favorite Middle Sister wine along to all of your celebrations this year!
Hey friends hey! I hope everyone had a beautiful weekend and a productive Monday! If you’ve been following my blog over this past 1.5 years (I can barely believe it, W O W), you have probably guessed that I am a picnic and wine kind of girl! Wether I set up picnics to gather with friends, for date night or to have a lunch break in the park by myself, I am always down to enjoy beautiful weather and good food! When you introduce wine into your spread, there are endless options to cater to people who love various tasting preferences but Middle Sisters wine has the perfect selection for those who love sweet treats or salty savories! Middle Sister wines were created 10 years ago by the founding women of the Wine Sisterhood. Founder Terry Wheatley was fascinated by her best friend’s middle daughter, Erin. From childhood, she was just more outrageous, more free-spirited and simply larger than life. Terry created Middle Sister wines for middle sisters everywhere, so they finally get the attention they deserve. In my home, I’m the middle sister when my older brother visits so I feel like this wine was totally made for me!
One of the many questions I get when it comes to hosting wine picnics is how to know what snacks to pair wines when you have a variety of flavors and are attempting to cater to different tastes. So, I’m excited to share my favorite ideas on sweet treats that you can grab at anytime to pair with your Middle Sister wines!
1 | Yogurt covered pretzels are one of my favorite go-to snacks! The sweetness of the coating pairs great with moscato for a treat or perfect with the red blend to get a sweet/salty combination. I chose strawberry yogurt dipped pretzels for this picnic but blueberry and banana yogurt pretzels are also amazing pairings!
2 | Peaches are easily my favorite summer fruit! No matter if I’m drinking red or white wine during the summer, I will have a side of peaches to put a fresh crisp edge on a white wine or bring out the fruity aromas in a red. Peaches are also a great addition to charcuterie boards to balance the flavors of crackers, cheese and olives.
3 | Apple pastries are the real key to my heart. I rarely eat pastries but am obsessed with anything that has a flaky crust and fresh apple fillings. And since majority of my friends love to bake, when we can have fresh apple treats, I am completely in paradise.
4 | Fresh berries can be perfect someone trying to transition from sweet wines down the scale to semi-sweets or semi dry blends. Because berries such as blueberries, raspberries and blackberries are all moderately sweet, I always suggest that my friends who are trying different wines on the dryer side to throw in a few berries to add the perfect sweet finish on any wine.
Some of my other favorite snacks includes pinwheels (shown below – mini wraps sliced in two-bite pieces), plain pretzels, baked chips and cinnamon muffins. When it comes to fruit, I try to stick to what is in season and easily available at local farmers markets and large grocery stores.
And ya’ll, this year Middle Sister wines turns 10! To help celebrate, the brand is hosting a monthly Kate Spade purse sweepstakes. First of all I want to tell you how much I love wine and reading articles about it is a BIG plus! Never heard of Middle Sister Wine before (perhaps it’s mostly USA based?), but if I’ll ever find it here in Sweden I’ll give it a try!
And we should give more attention to all Middle Sisters out there haha 🙂
