Friends, how is it already April? I am absolutely in denial and feel like the year just started last week. The first quarter has truly flown by and although I am always excited for the future, my Q2 is already shaping up to be quite busy from travel to work to personal development. Regardless, I am already loving the extra light we are receiving at the end of the day and the warmer days we have lucky had here in NC.
My first thought when the weather breaks is, “how can I enjoy outside a little more every day?”. And one of the easiest ways I can implement this daily practice is by enjoying a meal or a drink outside. Lunch, breakfast, green juice, tea, cocktail and everything in-between to truly take advantage of the down time at home before the madness of summer hits. And since I am finally feeling a bit more settled here in Charlotte after a full year, I am jumping at every chance I get to entertain at home. I want to develop the 2x/month practice of inviting friends over for porch cocktails. We don’t necessarily have to sit on the porch but the point is to have a casual gathering of 1-5 friends where we can catch-up, relax and enjoy each others company with or without all the pomp and circumstance of a formal gathering. I have already done this once after day light savings and y’all, my week was so much brighter because of it!
In that vain, I wanted to find a new, easy cocktail recipe that could please a crowd and be cooling on a warm day and y’all, I can’t get enough of this Pear Gin Fizz! Most of you know that I have been loving all things gin over the past year and I think this might be my best gin cocktail yet. Let’s get into it!
You’ll need a few ingredients:
- 1-2oz gin of your choice
- 1oz cointreu or simple syrup + orange peel
- 1.5oz pear brut syrup
- Champagne or prosecco
- Ice
Simply combine gin, cointreu or simple syrup + orange peel and the pear brut syrup in a shaker. I picked up the syrup from a local cocktail store and you can grab it: here. Shake those ingredients with a handful of ice then strain into a glass. To finish, top the glass with Prosecco or champagne, your choice, then serve cold! I usually love a batch cocktail but this one is so much better if you can make it fresh for each guest. What I really love is that you can make this drink as sweet as you want by adding more or less syrup. Gin, to me, is a very clean and neutral liquor so the flavor is really coming from the brut syrup and cointreu.
And just like that, you have a chilled, crowd-pleasing cocktail for porch/casual gatherings all season long! I have been making this one for myself and so many of my friends, who tried it with me from the top of the year until now, and we all absolutely love it! When you try this one, please let me know in the comments or over on Instagram. I would love to know what you think ❤️
