Hi hi hi and happy June, sweet friends! I hope you are all well and have exciting Summer plans on the horizon. Every time I look at the calendar I am shocked by how quickly the year is moving. Every year, right after my birthday in May, I have a bit of a jump scare knowing that we are nearing the mid year. Literally, a jaw dropping shock even though the calendar and seasons and time doesn’t change 😂
Today on the blog I am excited to share an every day, simple and easy to do brunch table at home. Don’t get me wrong, I adore an elaborate, drenched with flower bouquets, beyond lit with candles of various sizes and several course plates table, like everyone else, but have been loving when I can set a simple table to enjoy every day meals at too. All year around, one of my favorite times to host is during brunch. You don’t have to wake up too early, or worry about people staying too late and can have a one or two course menu without the pressure to do more.
When I am leaning towards a quick, simple table setting, I always grab a matching tablecloth and napkins set. Because they match, the table feels intentional and half the work of selecting textiles is done. As we all know by now, I have drinking glasses of so many styles and colors and shapes but I have been recently loving the duralex Manhattan glasses for water service. They are heavy and feel “special” but are essentially shatter proof and dishwasher friendly – who could ask for more? For champagne and Prosecco, I decide on glassware depending on the table colors and then select coupe or flute. I have such an obsession with Sir Madam right now and this coupe color millicent is a dream IRL.
Almost everything else on this table is thrifted, simple in design and again, dishwasher friendly. As a host, as much as I am thinking about friends and families having a great time when hosting during the day, I also am thinking about how easy breakdown post meal will be. I rarely use white plates but since the tablecloth and napkins are already so bright and patterned, I pulled out these thrifted favorites I picked up living in Austin and paired them with my go-to summer/spring bamboo cutlery that are also dishwasher-friendly.
Even though some believe lighting candles during a day time meal is a “taboo” (who likes to follow rules anyway), I usually don’t care HA! I genuinely love candles so much – twisty tapers, scented pillars, hand painted totems and everything in between. If I do have tapers on the table during the day, I will try to pull out a pair or two that are more “fun” like these bee candles. With no scent, I find these tapers are fun to look at while not having to worry about a scented candle changing the flavors or smells of what we are eating.
For this brunch, I pulled some tulips from a bouquet in another room and we were all set – simple, easy and about 10 minutes of prep needed for a brunch with friends! I would love to know in the comments, how do you host? Are you a lover of full tables no matter the meal? Or is a paired down look your preferred style?
Can’t wait to chat with y’all again soon xoxo <3
