Hey friends hey! Happy Thursday to everyone 🙂 I hope y’all are having a wonderful week and can finally see the light of the weekend coming soon. For me, I will be spending time cleaning, packing, planning and shooting before a big work week next week. Even though the temperatures have dropped back down into winter weather norms, I am excited to spend sometime outside in the sun and fresh air on Saturday. With working and so many changes happening, I haven’t been able to spend as much time outside as I would like but can’t wait to get back to it. If you’re in the Northeast, I hope you are safe + warm and hopefully enjoying some fun in the snow
If y’all can remember, last year around this time I did a home office reveal that included a fun gallery wall featuring prints, canvases, framed words and more. I was completely obsessed with that set-up but recently decided to simplify my workspace. Now that I work from home way more, I wanted to created a cleaner space to keep me on track. So, the first thing to go was my crazy gallery wall. I partnered with Photowall for my new home office wall art. Photowall is a Swedish company with a passion for design and quality. Their wall murals and canvas prints are environmentally friendly, fire-retardant in accordance with Swedish standards and do not fade in sunlight. When deciding on your mural or canvas, you can choose from 100’s of designs including nature, photography, numbers, sports, cities and more. There is also an option to upload your own picture to be printed on canvas or on a wall mural. I had so much fun searching through the designs and finally landed on this perfect Spot of Rain print. My home has a color combo of black, white, dark grey and deep ash blue. This design was the perfect pop to brighten up my office space! I chose the DIY canvas option and overall, it took about 20-30 minutes to put the entire canvas together and hang it. All the screws, brackets and other equipment needed comes with your order and is labeled throughout the instructions. What I love most about this canvas is how lightweight and easy to hang it is. Seriously, I was able to put it together and hang without problems which is relieving compared to prints a similar size that have 2-3 times the weight. I opted for a larger print because I wanted the design to take up my entire background when I am on FaceTime and Skype meetings. Overall, I am so excited to have this canvas hanging in my office and for already giving my space a more upgraded feel. Other updates
New chair – If y’all have seen snippets of my office on social media over the past few months, you may have seen my grey studded “office chair”. Really, it was a dinning room chair that I loved when I saw it at Target and it became my office seating. However, sitting in that chair for hours on end was uncomfortable and ultimately, I felt like it was time to upgrade to an actual office chair. I am obsessed with this new one and could not recommend it more! The seating part is 3x as padded as similar style office chairs and has the perfect height back for full support. Also with wheels, it is easier for me to roll over to my bookshelf to grab files and to my printer.
Organized bookcase – To be honest y’all, my bookcase has been a hot mess express since I put it together. For the longest time, I had a little bit of everything on my bookcase with no real order. A few weeks ago, I decided to give it a good clean and reorganization in anticipation of getting my office together. My pink boxes are from Marley Lilly purchases and I used this label maker to create black and white labels for the outside of the boxes. I moved my books from my desk to the top shelf of my bookcase to free up desk space. I also moved my small filing system along with books, magazines and a basket for outgoing mail, to my bookcase. After getting rid of plenty of junk, I finally feel like my shelf is organized with everything I need on it. I knew my bookcase wouldn’t be empty with tons of free space so by reusing Marley Lilly boxes and different organization hacks, I was able to get everything set and neat.
Desk – So, I have the same exact desk from last years update but I decided to change it around. I mainly did this because when I was I on FaceTime and Skype calls, you could see my (messy) living room in the back and I literally h a t e d it. Turning my desk has made a such a difference to my mood when sitting in my office plus, I can see what my pup is doing and keep my eye on the clock in my living room.
Declutter – I got rid of 80% of the stuff that was taking up space on my desktop. Instead, I have 3 small organizers that house my pens, sharpies, highlighters, paperclips, binder clips, mini post-it notes, chapstick and pushpins. The organizations were Dollar Tree finds and I cannot praise them enough. Three fit perfectly on my desk along with my stapler, hole puncher and tape dispenser, which are also Dollar Tree finds.
Notepads and planner – Something I noticed at my desk was that I was always reaching for a piece of paper and pen to write down a quick note and ultimately would lose that piece of paper later. So, now I have a personalized notepad, weekly planner pad and my daily Purposeful Planner on my desk whenever I’m working so I have plenty of options to write things down.
Extras – Since my desk was made for a traditional desktop computer with a CPU, I have a pullout drawer that I use to store extra post-it notes, mini notebooks and paperwork. The space for a mouse and cord house my label maker, flash drives, extra cords and whiteout. I use the space for the CPU to store my purse so it’s not on the floor and for my purse to have a place in my home that I can remember where it is.
