Hi, my friends! Happy Black History Month and second month of 2021! The absolute madness of January flew right past me and with it went my “new year, better me” spirit – LOL. With the semester starting, work being complete madness and trying to wrap-up 2020 business, I feel like today is the first day I can actually breathe enough to get back to blogging. Over the past week on Instagram stories, I partnered with fellow Black bloggers to share lifestyle content: Tomi’s Valentine Day charcuterie board; Nicole’s wines for Valentine’s Day; Sarah‘s tips for keeping your living room fresh and cozy; Natasha‘s bedroom refresh & Carmen‘s Valentine’s Day breakfast board. I shared my entryway that has been a few months in the making and a few of my future plans. Below I’m sharing a few more shots and a couple of ideas for what’s next. Let’s get into it!
Gallery wall: I used a combination of paid prints, notecards, free digital prints and a mix of high low frames to create this wall. It’s almost exactly in the middle of the way and is very free, organic and playful – which was my dream! Some of the cards include a note card from The Flourish Market and a postcard from Cultivate What Matters with two prints from Cricket Lane Designs (from my first office at my old apartment). All the other art and word prints are a combination of my searches for free prints online. Since I didn’t know exactly what I wanted in this gallery design to start, I didn’t want to invest in expensive prints. Instead, I found tons of free prints online, has them printed at Walgreens then used a combination of old and new frames from Michael’s, thumbtacks and a clipboard to organize everything.
Runner: With light grey floors, I needed a runner to bring some more color to this space. My previous runner was more grey than blue and pretty much blended into the planks. So when Ruggable reached out to gift me a rug, I took full advantage of being able to bring more color, specifically blue, to this space. I ordered this Victoria slate blue boho rug in size 2.5×7. It’s the perfect size to go from the top of the wall to the bathroom door frame. If you’ve been eyeing Ruggable, you can use my code FUNAZANIQUE10 for 10% off your entire purchase 🙂
In my stories tour you’ll see the small drop section immediately to the right of the door. I currently have a bathroom cart that I use to store shoes and a galvanized shelf with hooks that I use for masks and hats. My next small project is to get a mounted shoe storage similar to this one from The Container Store and then hang this mirror I received from Amazon Home a few months ago. Both will help to clean-up this space and still give me the storage needed. If I planned on staying in this apartment for another year or two, I would paint this space to break up the grey. But since I plan on buying a house when this lease is up, colorful wall art, simple storage and a bright runner will have to do!
Well friends, thanks so much for reading! Sharing my studio apartment has been a highlight of the past year and I’m excited to share a new spring bedroom refresh in the next few weeks. In the meantime, tour my: sleeping space + corner office. -xo, Azanique <3
