Happy Friday, beautiful people! Also, happy March! To be honest y’all, I am no where near prepared for a brand new month but I am excited to take the weekend to set goals and get planning done. Outside of goal setting, I have a fun weekend of events in Raleigh with some fellow blogger gals, which after a full week off, I am so excited for some social time. This week on instagram stories, I asked you guys what your work style preference was: business casual or business professional. More people voted for business casual but I wanted to share some colorful work style getting closer to the business professional side of the spectrum.
So one of my favorite places to shop for business professional pieces is Talbots. As someone on a post-grad, entrepreneur budget, I know how expensive work clothes can get. However, when Talbots has their Family & Friends sale, I go in-store and BALL OUT in the clearance section, which is also part of the sale. Last season, I picked up this tweed skirt for only $25 and cardigan for only $30. Both of these items were 50%-75% off, which is right on track with budget. On the low end, I grabbed this top for only $10 and heels for $30 [now $50-$70], both from Belk. For me, I tend to shop in the clearance section for work style because certain prints and colors, when it comes to work style, don’t have a season for me. I’ll wear floral prints in the winter and dark colors in the summer and vice versa. Unlike casual clothing that I wear season by season. Above and below, I’ve linked the entire outfit (similars included if needed)
No matter if I dress business professional or business casual, my goal is to add color. One thing I hate is wearing the dreaded, traditional work colors: navy blue, black, white and brown. I hate it. I HATE it. I hate it. So even with the skirt that has a little pop of red, red pumps brighten the entire outfit. However, if the red is too much, a quick swap of the shoes with flats or black pumps would still qualify this outfit as business professional.
So friends, how you dress for work: business professional or business casual? AWhere are your favorite places to pick up work pieces? I would love to know in the comments! Thanks so much for reading y’all. Have a great weekend 🙂 -xo, Azanique <3
