Well back to the blog, sweet friends <3 I’m currently on work from home week 5 and y’all, I think I could get used to this. I was already working from home 1 day a week but once we are cleared to return to the office, I would definitely consider only going in 3 days a week. Anyone else feel the same way? I love not having to drive, not being tempted to buy lunch out or wear make-up. TBH, I’m just a girl living the #lowbarlifestyle and LOVING it.
If you’ve been following my home decor journey over on Instagram, you know that my new office space has been so much fun to create. It’s mostly together now, just missing a lamp or sconce, and I sharing all the deets today. Plus, I’m taking you guys down memory lane with some of my old office space set ups.
(old desk)
First desk space in current apartment
If we rewind back to the beginning of my blogging days, this office space reveal was actually one of my first blog posts. I had so much fun putting this space together and spending so many college nights there studying. You’ll notice that my Get Stuff Done sign has made it’s way to my current office space. I have also repurposed the organization items to use in my storage closet and drawers. Because everything is still in really good shape, there was really no need to get rid of them. Instead, I’m using the organization pieces in my storage closet and drawers to keep things in order.
A second version of this same office space came about 2 years later when I worked with Facebook Marketplace. Because of the big partnership, I often look back at this space to remind myself how far I have come with blogging and all the amazing partners I’ve had over the years. It’s so rewarding! For that office space set-up, I scaled down on the desktop decor and added some fun accessories for the holidays. My condo had a completely different color theme and style than my current apartment. So the red, black and silver was a fun spin on my black and white design.
(new desk)
Fast forward to now: After putting together my new desk, I worked with minimal decor and just my laptop. Because I only was working home once a week at that time, I didn’t need my extra monitor or more tools. Mostly because my work from home days then included going to a coffee shop or co-working space. However, since we moved to fully working from home about 5 weeks ago, I’ve added a ton of tools and decor to this desk space. A monitor, bedside lamp, phone stand and a few more notepads were my first additions. Then came the fresh flowers, writing tools and small canisters for cords and such.
Since I truly live in one open space, I needed to find ways to define this office space as a real office. The easiest way to do that is with “office style” decor. My degree was literally in a storage bin under my bed with a cracked frame. Probably not the best way to treat a VERY expensive piece of paper that I’m still paying for…right? I picked up a simple, lightweight frame from Target for about $14 that I could easily hang with command strips. This way, if I want to move it, I could easily and without damaging the walls. My rolling desk chair was a MAJOR steal at Ross a few months ago that I found for about $50. On the left side of my desk, closest to the wall, I keep my work backpack and laptop case. I don’t really have anywhere else to store those and it makes life easier when I pack up my laptop for travel. The both fit perfectly since the “leg” of this desk is on an angle. My cords are also hidden on that side so they’re not under my feet while working.
Getting this new desk was a reward to myself for getting into graduate school and paying off my credit card debt. Both big dreams and goals of mine for 2020. And even though there was technically nothing wrong with the previous white desk, I am SO excited that this desk arrived right before these weeks of working from home happened. I’m super proud to call this little space my office and even more proud to call this apartment my own! Both really are perfect for my current lifestyle and give me more than enough creative freedom to decorate without feeling overwhelmed. It’s a win/win!
If you missed it, I shared my studio apartment bedroom space just a few weeks back! More studio apartment spaces are coming soon but these two are the most “done” and are my absolute favorites! You can use the pictures above and below to shop all the details! Thank you guys for using links directly from my blog and LiketoKnowIt to support my job as a content creator! Have a great weekend <3 -xo, Azanique <3

1) Congrats on getting into grad school and paying off your credit card, those are both AWESOME accomplishments!
2) Your apartment is SO cute! You’ve done a really great job of making the studio layout feel so homey! When I lived in a studio it all felt like a mess, it was not nearly so cute!
3) I love your new desk, it looks so good! & I agree, display that diploma-you earned it!

I love this so much! I feel like a home office needs to be some huge amount of space dedicated solely to an office, but it doesn’t have to be that way. Just having a place to work can be enough. So cute!
