Happy Thursday, sweet friends! Somehow this week is flying by and I can hardly keep up. With packing last weekend and scheduling to move-out my condo of 5 years this weekend, plus the holiday – I need a nap. However, it’s week 3 of my new job in a new city and I’m so excited to say I am completely happy with my decision to move forward with jumping back into “normal” work life after almost 1.5 years of ~primarily~ self-employment. With all these changes, I’ve had to completely shift some of my routines including how long I take to get ready in the morning and how many beauty products I am carrying with me. Plus, with the summer heat, I refuse to be that girl with makeup running down her face at happy hour. So, here are my holy grail makeup products that help me get ready in 5ish minutes.
1 | Sunscreen
If you were ever wondering, the answer is yes – you should be wearing sunscreen. No matter the day of the year or how long you plan on being outside or the shade of your skin, you should absolutely be using sunscreen daily. I received this sunscreen as PR a few weeks back and have used it daily since and LOVE LOVE LOVE the mattifying feature. Since the summer heat is already at a peak, my main concern with makeup and skincare in general is that I don’t look greasy 5 minutes after applying. The SPF 30 + mattifying feature makes this my sunscreen of choice for summer. There is no harsh smell and it’s light enough for my skin to feel weightless before applying makeup.
2 | Primer
For so long this has been my primer of choice! The 4-in-1 formula makes the primer “wear several hats” AKA I can buy and apply less products to my skin. I come back to this same primer over and over again because of the nourishing formula. I rarely have to use additional aloe or additional facial sprays (unless I truly want to) to keep my skin moist after applying. Additionally, I can use this same tube of primer for months before having to replaces aka making the price of $33 well worth it. This brand goes on sale a few times of the year which is when I stock up by buying 2 primers at a time.
3 | CC cream
Okay friends, I shared this buildable blur cc cream on International Women’s Day as they partnered with She’s The First, an organization near to my heart. There are so many reasons why I am now addicted to this cc cream but one of them is that I can use this to cover all blemishes and blend my skin together smoothly. If I’m in a true rush, I can wear this with a a couple layers of mascara and a moisturizing chapstick to be out of the door quickly. Unlike heavier foundations//creams, I’ve found that this cc cream doesn’t melt after a long day and can be easily touched up throughout the day with a wet beauty blender. The true icing on the cake is that for every item purchased, a beauty product is donated to woman at a local shelter or non-profit organization or group/cause supporting women right in our own backyards. And if you guys know me at all by now, you know anything that directly supports women and girls will keep me coming back time and time again.
4 | Under eye concealer
Even if I have only 3 minutes to get ready, I am using under eye concealer. This was the 5th type I tried and it truly lives up to the hype. Outside of having great coverage for my dark circles and lines, this concealer has a little glow to it so my under eye instantly brightens. I also use this on my chin and middle of my t-zone to brighten my overall appearance. I still haven’t found a concealer that doesn’t set into my lines at all but by far, this is the best concealer I’ve found for color matching, no burning and worth the cost
5 | Glow Setting powder
Repeat after me: A little goes a long way. Friends, I unfortunately learned this the hard way. I originally used the non-glow version of this concealer after receiving it in PR. After the standard concealer was gone, I switched to the glow concealer simply because I had it and the reviews were amazing. After too many times of going heavy with the brush, I learned my lesson about applying. If you want a huge glow streak across your face, you can go full force with a brush or beauty blender lightly, lightly shaking off the excess. However, for me just wanting a little powder to combat oily throughout the day, I use a damp brush or sponge, dab as little powder as possible and tap the side of the container until I can hardly see the powder. Even though I want to concealer, the glow effect is extremely powerful and can leave you looking streaky if not applied evenly or applied too hard. The major plus side to this item is if you like to highlight, this is a great setting powder to intensify your glow. Additionally if you run out of eye shadow, this would be a great alternative as a gold shadow that will set any other eye makeup you’re wearing. Since I use so little at a time, the standard size could easily last me 4-6 months.
6 | Setting spray
By far this is my holy grail, gotta-have-it, setting spray for wearing makeup. I shared it on the Sephora sale post a few weeks back with all the different options for a cooling sensation and a de-slick method to cut down on oil. Whenever this setting spray is on sale, I highly recommend stocking up!
7 | Lash primer
Just this spring I start using a lash primer and I completely understand what the hype is. Since I use a mascara in the same brand, I think this primer works even better with similar brush styles and formulas. My next step is trying a white pre-mascara lash primer and compare the results but so far, I am completely loving how easy this primer is to use and how much longer my lashes appear after use.
8 | Mascara
Okay guys, confession time: I am that girl with 5-6 different mascaras in her purse at a time. For some reason, whenever there is a mascara sale, I pick up a few and most beauty PR packages come with new formula mascaras to try. If you’re looking for a middle of the line affordable mascara to thicken the appearance of your lashes, this one is about $15 and perfect for that. A much more affordable option is this $5 super popular style.
9 | matte lipstick or 10 | high-shine gloss
Lastly friends, whatever makeup look I’m wearing is topped with some lip option. I’m either wearing my matte berry lipstick that lasts for days and days and days or a high-shine gloss with a gold tint and shimmer. Lately to the office I’ve worn the fan favorite Butter gloss, but found it to be a little sticky when I got out in the heat. Now, I’ve been loving the high-shine gloss from Too Faced that lasts forever and gives my lips a little extra glow boosts to match my powder combination.
Well friends, that’s all that I have for today! I am surprised that I’m able to get up and out in the door in less than 30 minutes in the morning but I’m happy I can. What are your go-to beauty items for a quick morning look? Let me know in the comments so I can try them out 🙂 Have a lovely weekend! -xo, Azanique <3
