Hey friends hey! Happy Monday Funday to ya 🙂 This weekend came and went but I’m excited for a busy week ahead and a long weekend. I have no clue why it just hit me that Labor Day Weekend was this weekend but since I was lost for the days of the week, I’m now putting together a fun trip to take for the holiday. On traditional beach holidays, such as Labor Day & MDW, I steer clear away from beaches, lakes, docks and anything else in that realm. Because they tend to overcrowd, I don’t find those settings to be relaxing for me at all. Instead, I am hoping to take a quick trip to Asheville or Charlotte since both are less than 5 hours away and should be fairly calm during the holiday weekend. If you do have plans, where are you thinking about going? I would love some inspiration so leave me a comment below.
Just like my casual fashion style, I’m pretty simple when it comes to makeup. My daily makeup consists of: primer, foundation, concealer, setting powder, red lipstick and setting spray. With my current routine, I can be up and out the door in 20 minutes including getting dressed with my makeup routine taking about 8-10 minutes. A few months back I talked about my recent beauty finds and had such great feedback, so now I love sharing skincare and makeup picks with my readers through the blog and social media. Recently, I’ve been getting a bunch of questions about my makeup routine and favorite products so today I’m sharing my must-haves in my makeup bag.
One | PUR Cosmetics Primer – Y’all, this primer is much more pricey than my past favorite (ELF blemish control) but worth every cent. I love starting off any makeup look with this primer because it makes my skin baby smooth and completely even. The main reason why I now prefer PUR over ELF primer is because I don’t feel like my skin gets as oily after a day of wear. As someone with combination skin, excessive oil is one of my biggest concerns.
Two | PUR Cosmetics 4-in-1 Foundation Stick – Y’all, this is my H O L Y G R A I L foundation. It’s a cream to velvet foundation and perfect for my combination skin. Overall, the foundation leaves my skin glowing and even, without looking flat or leaving me gray at the end of the day. This foundation can also used to contour or highlight and has buildable medium to full coverage. There are currently 34 shades available online and about 10-12 available in store.
Three | Maybelline FitMe concealer – Y’all, I love FitMe! I have no idea why it took me so long to finally start using this line from Maybelline but this concealer has been my favorite for the past several months. This concealer is only $7 and the creamy texture it great for blending. Since I have wrinkles under my eyes, it does crease, but I love that it stays on all day and I can easily reblend when creasing does happen.
Four | Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder + Glow – Y’all, I am addicted to this setting powder! In the past, I’ve only found white setting powders, both loose and pressed, and hated how they looked. In the beginning of the day, they would it would look decent but by the end of the day under my eyes would be almost grey. This setting powder actually comes in two shades and is brown girl friendly. Another perk is that there are 2 sizes, so you can use one size to travel with and one to keep on your vanity at home.
Five | Strictly Vinyl Lip Gloss in Bad Girl – So I’ve already shared my love for this NYX lip color in this post rounding up my favorite red lip colors but y’all, this is seriously my go-to red gloss. My favorite part about this lip gloss is that is stains my lips so even after hours of wearing, I still have the vibrant red lip red and can easily apply a clear gloss on top. This color is currently on sale for less than $6 and is the perfect addition to your gloss fam.
Six | Almay Thickening Mascara – Bye bye thin lashes thanks to this mascara from Almay. I’ve always used two mascaras and this is currently my second layering mascara for thickening. A few of the reviews mention clumping as a con but for me, I lengthened with one mascara and thicken/clump with this one. Since I don’t wear a ton of eye makeup, I love that this mascara helps my eyelashes pop. Plus, this mascara is a breeze to take off and doesn’t thin your lashes.
Seven | Born to Run Eyeshadow palette – Guys, if you’re going to buy any shadow palette, this is the one to get! I received the BTR PR package this summer and can’t let go of this palette. The color combination is perfect for transitioning into fall but also has a few neutrals to take you through the entire year.
Eight | Pixi by Petra Glowy Duos – This highlighter is perfect for that extra glow! You can also use this duo set as eyeshadow or to create extra glow on concealed areas such as your chin.
Nine | Urban Decay All Nighter – Y’all, the raving reviews you’ve seen about this setting spray are all true! Even after long days of teaching, errands, drinks with friends and more, my makeup stays set with this spray. Also, I have much less fabric transfer with changing my clothes throughout the day. I have fallen asleep with makeup on and woke up with most of my face intact. If there’s something that you want to splurge on in your routine, I would 100% opt to spend the money on this setting spray by getting the full size to keep at home and then the travel size to keep with you.
Okay friends, that’s it for me! Each of these items stay in my makeup bag that I take to work, on vacation and for business trips. Shop each by clicking on the name or using the widget above and below. In the comments, let me know what your must-have makeup products are! -xo, Azanique <3
