Hello, sweet friends & happy Tuesday to you! Today, I am F I N A L L Y sharing the apartment updates you have been asking for. In true me fashion, I wanted to wait until my apartment was completely finished before sharing. However, I realized this weekend that I’ve been in this apartment for almost 7 months and STILL am not “finished”. There are a few big things I want to complete, such as my desk area, that are pretty bare right now. I also want to add a console table against the entryway wall and reorganize all my cabinets and closet. For only a 610sq/ft space, my to-do list feels like it’s going on and on for days. SO, let’s jump in!
First, my entryway. I wish wish wish I could share where all these photos are from but I downloaded all of them from FREE photo sharing websites. Seriously, just google “free gallery wall stock images” and you’ll find 100s of sites to browse. After downloading, I ordered about 20 prints in various sizes from Walgreens. Altogether, with purchasing new frames, printing and command strips, I spent about $100 on this gallery wall. This wall itself is one item from completion pending me finding something to fit the far left space under the black frame and next to the hot pink/red printed card. For the prints, I tried to create a mix of colors, people and places. I also threw in typed prints, mailing cards and magazine inserts for a change of texture. This runner was $30 from HomeGoods and I’m debating between this traditional thin console and this lucite console table to line the wall.
Second, main living space. I mentioned above that my desk area needs major rescuing from the blank wall and simple white desk. This desk is WONDERFUL for small spaces and has a small drawer to store stationary. However, now that’s in the space, I realize that I don’t actually want a white desk against this wall and have started looking at campaign desks in deep/rust orange. Whenever I find one, I will donate this desk locally. it’s basically in perfect condition and can be broken down in about 10 minutes then reassembled.
My couch has been the highlight of everyones questions and I will say…it’s amazing. I have dreamt of having a blue velvet couch like this since junior year of college and this one is like a dream come true. It is more of a firm couch but I love that it doesn’t change shape or start to look loose after sitting on. All the pillows were HomeGoods finds but similar styles are here and here. I assembled the couch by myself in about 45 minutes. This rug was a $80 Ross find from a town over. I had visited 2 other Ross stores that day and figured I had nothing to lose when I drove past one in Knightdale. I seriously couldn’t believe the price for a 7’9 x 9’6!
My TV area will always be special to me because 1. I wanted a big screen Roku TV (55inch) and 2. I also pulled my back trying to get both the TV and cabinet out of my car. ICYM my Instagram stories, this TV was stuck in my car for 3 days around Thanksgiving. Just a month later, I picked up this cabinet from HomeGoods and it too got stuck in my car. This time, I had to call in reinforcements (my amazing neighbors) to get it out of my car. I did a little damage to one end, that was already a little damaged, but it was worth it! I love how thin this cabinet is and it’s the perfect matching size under the TV. I styled the top of the under tv cabinet and table with a few table books, devotionals and my bible.
Lastly, to my bedding area! I have been going back and fourth about bedding. Specifically on whether I should layer orange and white bedding with blue accents or keep this bedding that’s based with a white and black thin stripe comforter. I seriously can’t make up my mind! In the meantime, this layered bedding look works for me and carries the bright colors of the living space while still being a calming haven at the end of the day.
I currently don’t have matching side tables so I am using the space for a floor lamp for night reading and “clothing rack” (AKA drying rack) to store new items. I have a small table from my old apartment that’s off-white to store books I’m reading, my devotional and journal. This table is also my dropping ground for late night snacks and water. The below picture is the most wide pic I can snap with my iPhone from the corner of my pantry/wall kitchen.
Well friends, that’s all for today! I am so excited to see how this apartment will change over the next few weeks with additions and changes. I’ve linked everything I could find and similars for my discount store purchases.
Have you redecorated your space recently? I would love to know when you felt “done” with the space? Thanks so much for reading! -xo, Azanique <3
