Hey friends hey, Happy Wednesday! Y’all, I feel like the summer weekends fly quicker than any other season weekends in the year. Does anyone else feel this way? This weekend, I had a few friends over for a cocktail happy hour at my condo and we had a blast. Since I was hosting, I put together a mini summer cocktail bar on my patio, grabbed my favorite flute glasses and got set-up while my friends brought goodies and snacks for us to have. Whenever I create drink bars for girls night, I love to have a base drink that’s easy to pair with anything and this time I chose Zima®. Zima® was a fun drink back in the 90s (my mom practically fell out of her chair when I told her I was grabbing it for the weekend) and is the perfect citrus beverage to celebrate summer!
When putting together this mini cocktail bar, I wanted to keep everything simple and easy. First, I grabbed a 6-pack of Zima® from my local grocer. When we were making our cocktails, we only needed about half a bottle, so the 6-pack was the perfect size for a couple of us. Second, I went for a variety of juices. For myself, I like semi-sweet drinks versus fruit punch and lemonades, and my friends are the exactly same. So, I opted for orange (a classic favorite), ruby red grapefruit and cranberry apple mix (my personal favorite). Fruit is always my next step, and that usually includes sweeter fruits such as strawberries, peaches and blackberries. Lastly, I add a few garnishments just to top it off: limes, lemons and mint leaves for added flavor. After that, sometimes I’ll add rock sugar or cinnamon sugar for rims depending on my crowd. Plus, you can add different mixes such as sweet and sour, mango syrup or a margarita mix just for fun. My favorite drink combination from this weekend was ½ bottle of Zima®, ruby grapefruit juice, strawberries and a two squeezes of a lime.
But y’all, Zima® is only back for a limited time so head to your local grocer and grab a 6-pack for yourself before it’s too late! Learn more about Zima® here and check out their Facebook and Instagram channels. In the comments, let me know what you love to have in your summer cocktail bars! Have a great week -xo, Azanique <3
