Almay Cosmic Collection Launch at Her Conference

Happy Monday, gorgeous friends! I cannot believe we are already two weeks into August and the start of the academic year. Just a few weeks back, I attended my first #HerConference in NYC and am still on an empowered high from the amazing women and girls I met, danced with, took too many selfies with and building together. If you’re unfamiliar with the #HerConference, this is what you need to know: Her Conference is the ultimate career development event for college women and recent grads. Focused on media, marketing, entrepreneurship, tech, social impact, leadership and more, Her Conference is two days of total #careergoals speakers, actionable programming, amazing swag, mega giveaways and interactive activities.

Outside of the amazing people I met, I was so excited to partner with Almay during this time and to see their brand new #AlmayReveal of their new Cosmic Collection!

If y’all haven’t noticed, lipstick/lip gloss is my number one makeup essential. All I need a good lip color and gloss to top it off, and I’m ready to go. So I was so pumped to that part of the new Almay collection was 8 gorgeous high-shine prismatic lip colors! All weekend long, I got to play on different colors and combos with each Almay Goddess Gloss to create vibrant looks and more subtle everyday makeup looks. For day one, I layered up the “Flame” Almay Goddess Gloss on top of a bold red lip for a bright, high-shine look. Getting completely out of my comfort zone, I added a pop of color from the new Almay Shadow Squad Eyeshadow Holographic in Illusionist right on my lid! On day 2, I went for a more sheer high-shine look by rocking Almay Goddess Gloss in Cosmic solo on my lips and trying out the new Almay Shadow Squad Eyeshadow Holographic in Pixie Dust, also from the Cosmic Collection, that I actually L O V E love!

My favorite part about this new collection is that you can each lip and eye shadow color is buildable. On days were you want a completely bold look, you can add and blend a few shadow colors on your lid and add a high-shine on top of a red, pink or blue lip color. But on the flip side, there’s so much freedom and space to us the collection for a much more sheer and subtle makeup look. Out of the new collection, what colors would you wear on your bold days? So, I couldn’t leave you without feedback on my #HerConference takeaways. Here are the three biggests pieces of advice I took from the weekend:

  1. Go for it- I sat in on many panels of women with different backgrounds, educational qualifications, careers, lifestyles and more, but they all made statements around going for it. An an entrepreneur and young professional, chasing my dreams and building new opportunities for myself is a constant battle. I go back and forth with the hustle lifestyle and being still in current path. After leaving, I felt that everything I was hustling for was worth it and I should confine to go for A L L the things I want, regardless of what it looks like to other people.
  2. You are never alone – Even though I’m constantly surrounded my people in physical spaces and meeting people through social media daily, whenever you’re getting in the mess of searching for the career for you, moving and building new friendships, it’s so easy to feel like you’re the only one. It was so comforting to meeting other women and girls that felt the same way I did. They were happy in their careers but understanding the battle of balance. They loved chasing new opportunities but knew that certain things may have to temporarily be on the back burner. In particular, when attending the IHC Collective meetup on Sunday, I felt so normal being surrounded by other bloggers/influencers who felt the annoyance of the Instagram algorithm and building organically on social media but also had the same fire inside to create new content and take their blogs to new levels. It was so amazing to see!
  3. You are your most important investment – okay, before going to the Her Conference, I already knew that I needed to invest in myself. However, every single person on the panel and keynote stage mentioned how they invested in themselves. This included everything from taking on jobs/internships across the country, going back to school, staying after hours at work and even just taking a day off, all as ways they invested in themselves. I consider myself a forever student and know that education, training and opportunities are chances to keep investing in myself. I was just so excited to see that it’s okay to change paths as a result of investing in yourself and how much your own empowerment of yourself can change your life.

    Also, I LOVE the colors of the Almay eye shadows! I like that it’s all buildable but the color payoff seems out of this world!
