Happy Wednesday, sweet friends! Can you believe we’re already to the middle of the week? Maybe it’s because February is so short or because January was so looooonnnnggg, but I feel like the month is already half way over. Continuing with my purging from over holiday break, I’m still finding things to get rid of in my home, to donate and to sell. As far as organization, most of my spaces will need a face lift soon (considering I’ve lived in the same place for so long), which is something I am extremely looking forward to – starting with my bathroom. Like most of you (recent grads, college students & young professionals), your current living space is probably smaller than what you would like with less storage than you feel like you need.
While sharing my tiny medicine cabinet over on Instagram stories, I had a bunch of questions about my favorite face washes for various skin concerns including dryness, breakouts and excessive oil. So today on the blog, I am sharing just that: 5 face cleansers for 5 skin concerns. Each I have loved and used and continue to use whenever I need. They all stay in my medicine cabinet for easy access and I tend to keep a backup of each when I can. So, let’s get started!
Pixi Rose Cleanser [inflammation/ swelling/ irritation]
This is the latest cleanser to be added to my favorites. Just a few weeks back, Pixi sent over a travel package of their entire rose infused line, including this face wash with Chamomile & aloe vera. On the days where I wake up with a swollen face or inflammation (aka out too long without sunscreen or in direct sunlight after a peel/facial), I love to use this face cleanser to calm and cool my skin. The ending residue is great for getting off extra bits of makeup while still having a soothing sensation after being cleared.
Bioré Baking Soda Acne Cleansing Foam for Combination Skin [acne/ breakouts]
This is by far my most used face wash and what I consider my go-to cleanser since I use it about 90% of the week. Whenever I feel a breakout about to happen, I will wash my face and neck thoroughly with this cleansing foam to prevent any breakouts from forming on the surface. I’m someone who likes to “see” that a product is working and since this face wash is foaming, I love to excessively lather into my skin and watch the bubbles work. This is another great face wash to get off that extra layer of makeup that makeup wipes don’t begin to touch and dig deeper into your skin to wipe out impurities. Since this product is made for acne, it can leave your skin a tab bit dehydrated. I would suggest following up with a nice moisturizer or light skin hydrating oil.
AVYA Skincare Gentle Cleanser [clogged pores/ daily dirt]
Have you guys heard of AVYA? This brand was created specifically to fit the skincare needs for women of color. I’ve used several of their products including moisturizers, under eye solutions and this non foaming gentle cleanser. On my non-makeup days, I grab this face wash first. There is no lathering affect but I love that this cleanser does a great job of unclogging my pores and leaving my skin with a smooth finish. It is the most expensive face wash on this list, however, this one bottle could last you months since a little goes a long way with this formula.
Prebiotic 4-In-1 MultiCleanser [dryness/ dull skin]
Who else is fighting insanely dry skin this season? I don’t know if it is the constantly changing weather or what but my skin is super dry right now and has been since about Christmas. Next week, I’ll be sharing my dry skin night routine but until then, I’ll share my latest hydration cleanser obsession: Murad prebiotic 4-in-1 multicleanser. Since this doesn’t lather, I tend to use a little more than need just to spread across my face and neck but a little definitely goes a long way. I follow-up with a tab bit of face moisturizer and a few spritz of the water mist, also part of the Murad hydration line.
Neutrogena Deep Clean Purifying Cleanser & Mask [excessive oil, clogged pores]
Last, but certainly not least, is the dual product for Neutrogena. This product has been a saving grace for days when my skin has excessive oil such as summer or days when I’ve sweat a ton. If you like to multi-mask or multicleanse, I would use this one your t-zone, chin and nose, since those are the places we tend to hold the most oil. Additionally, this cleanser serves a deep purifying mask so for only $8.50, you’re getting two great products. The mask only takes about 10 minutes to get a good grip on the build up in your pores and can be washed off with a warm, wet cloth.
Well friends, that’s all that I have for today! What is your go-to face wash? If you’re like me and have several your rotate through, which has been the best for your skin? I would love to know in the comments. Thanks so much for reading friends. Have a great day! -xo, Azanique <3
